Who is responsible for the water bill?
You, the property owner of record, as listed with the Town Clerk, are responsible for payment of the water bill.
How often do I receive a bill for water services?
You are billed either monthly or quarterly.
What are the charges on my bill?
You are billed a service charge for the meter and a consumption charge for the water that passes through the meter.
When is payment due for the water bill?
Payment for water services is due in our office on, or before, the last day of the month in which you receive your bill.
What if my bill is not paid on time?
Failure to pay a water bill will result in interest charges applied monthly.
What forms of payment do you accept?
How do I know if I am an “in district” or “out of district” customer?

What are my responsibilities?
The customer is responsible for keeping service pipes, meter pits and vaults, curb box, house pipes, and fixtures in good working order.

What is the service address?
The service address is the address of the property where water is being consumed.
My property is being sold. What is the procedure to obtain a final reading?
You or your attorney should contact SNEW as soon as a closing date has been selected. The following information will be needed: service address; seller’s name and new owner’s name; date of closing; both attorneys’ names, phone and fax numbers. SNEW will schedule a final reading and notify both attorneys of the charges due.
What is the water rate schedule and how are the charges set?
The schedule consists of a service charge, based on the size of the water meter, plus a charge for water consumed. Special charges may be applied to a customer account, when applicable based on the work performed. Service charges and consumption rates are set by the Commissioners for the Second Taxing District.
