Irrigation Schedule 2022

Due to recent summer droughts in 2016 and 2020, SNEW is requiring customers follow an automatic sprinkler irrigation schedule from April 1st to October 31. The purpose of this schedule is to increase water use efficiency and reduce wasteful water use practices. We are requiring SNEW water customers to cooperate by irrigating twice per week based on the schedule below. You can still have a beautiful lawn and garden and conserve water.

There should be no automatic irrigation between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. however drip irrigation, soaker hoses and hand-held watering are OK at any time. Properties with automatic sprinkler systems used about 40% more water than homes without these systems.

This same schedule has been adopted by all neighboring water suppliers in lower Fairfield County since 2016 including Darien, East Granby, Granby, Greenwich, New Canaan, Newtown, Simsbury, Stamford and Westport. Please do your part and set your automatic irrigation system to the schedule. Failure to follow these regulations can result in warnings, fines and/or termination of water service.
